The Syrian army

The Syrian army has gained more ground from foreign-backed Takfiri terrorists in the province of Aleppo amid ongoing heavy clashes between the two sides.

Syrian government forces continued their push to free more areas from foreign-backed Takfiri terrorists in the two regions of al-Barij and Tal Aleppo in the province.

According to Syrian sources, heavy clashes are underway between the Takfiri terrorists and the army in a number of other regions as well.

Reports also indicate that a Saudi terrorist leader of the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front has been gunned down in clashes in Aleppo's al-Zahra neighborhood.

Meanwhile, Syrian army units stormed Takfiri terrorists hideouts in many areas in Aleppo, including Deir Hafer, Kwairis, Ghabsheh and Handarat, inflicting heavy losses on them.

Elsewhere, in Jabal al-Zawyeh area in the countryside of Idleb Province, Syrian soldiers destroyed a warehouse containing a huge amount of pamphlets and documents sent to the Takfiri terrorists from Saudi Arabia.

Over the past months, the Syrian army has achieved major victories in its battle against Takfiri groups across the Arab country, particularly in the Qalamoun region near the Lebanese border.

Last month, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said the war in his country had strongly shifted in favor of government forces as they had made continuous gains in their battle against the terrorists. Assad has also pledged to strike terror "with an iron fist."

The latest operations come after foreign-backed Takfiri terrorists evacuated the Old City of Homs, surrendering full control of the flashpoint city to the Syrian army.
