Bauhaus - Ziggy Stardust.

"Ziggy Stardust" is a song written by David Bowie in 1972 for the album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. The name Stardust was inspired by the Legendary Stardust Cowboy. The song is ranked #277 on Rolling Stone's list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time".
The British gothic rock band Bauhaus recorded a version of "Ziggy Stardust" as their eighth single. The single was released in October 1982 through Beggars Banquet Records and reached number fifteen on the UK Singles Chart. The B-side is a Brian Eno cover. It was released in 7" and 12" format on the Beggar's Banquet label. The 12" additional live track "I'm Waiting for the Man" is a Velvet Underground cover.

Ziggy played guitar
Jamming good with Weird and Gilly
And the Spiders From Mars
He played it left hand
But made it too far
Became the special man
Then we were Ziggy's band

Ziggy really sang
Screwed up eyes and screwed down hair-do
Like some cat from Japan
He could lick 'em by smiling
He could leave them to hang
Came on so loaded man
Well hung and snow-white tan

Then where were the Spiders
While the flies tried to break our balls
Just the beer light to guide us
So we bitch about his fans and should we crush his sweet hands

Ziggy played for time
Jiving us that we were voodoo
But the kids were just crass
He was the nazz, with God-given ass
He took it all too far
But boy, could he play guitar

Making love with his ego
Ziggy sucked up into his mind
Like a leper messiah
When the kids had killed the man
I had to break up the band
Ziggy tocava guitarra
Improvisando com "esquisito" e gilly
As aranhas de marte

Ele era canhoto
Mas foi além do limite
Tornou-se um homem especial
Então éramos a banda de ziggy

Ziggy realmente cantava revirando os olhos e desmanchando o penteado
Como um gato do japão

Ele podia derrotá-los pelo sorriso
Ele podia deixá-los pra girar
Um homem tão carregado
Indeciso e sem bronzedo

Então onde estavam as aranhas

Garoto, ele podia tocar guitarra

Fazendo amor com seu ego
Ziggy sugou em sua mente
Como um messias leproso
Quando as crianças mataram o homem
Eu tive que acabar com a banda

Ziggy tocava guitarra
